Why isn’t my body shop website showing up in Google?

get on google page 1-resized-600.jpgWhen you create a website for your business, you expect that it will not only explain your services, but that it will also bring more customers to your shop.  But how can you accomplish either of these missions if you’re not even showing up on Google?  Many of our clients had the same problem before they came to us, but they are now showing up on the first page of Google consistently.

If you want to show up on the first page of Google, too, then you’ll need to determine what you’re currently doing wrong.  It could be:

·         You’re not using the right keywords.  When people search for body shop services, they tend to enter the questions you’d expect into Google, such as, “What is the best body shop in [city], [state]?” or “How much does it cost for a collision repair estimate?”  You’ll need to anticipate the kinds of questions that people will type into Google and use those keyword phrases throughout your website.  Stumped for ideas?  Just think about a typical day at your body shop and write down the questions customers ask.  Also, be sure to write down the questions exactly as people say them.  When you work in the automotive repair field, you might use more technical language than a layperson, so you’ll need to consider how someone outside the body shop world would type a question into Google.

·         You’re not blogging.  Blogging is one of the best things you can do for your body shop website to increase traffic and generate leads.  Rather than letting your website become stagnant due to inactivity, blogging allows you to provide fresh, compelling content on a regular basis, which makes your site more attractive to visitors and, therefore, to Google.  It gives you a chance to input the right keyword phrasing for search engine optimization and it offers the perfect segue into targeted calls to action.

·         You’re not blogging correctly.  Blogging is one thing, but blogging the right way…well, that’s an entirely different story.  To be an effective blogger for your body shop’s website, make sure that your posts are helpful and interesting to your customers; aim for the right blog length, which is in the 500-600 word range; include images to make the content easier to digest; and be sure to use the right keyword phrasing to attract visitors.

·         You’re not using social media to your advantage.  Social networking is one of the best ways to spread the word about your site and services, and it’s free!  If you use social media (like Google+, which directly influences the search engine), then you can boost your visitor numbers, which will make your website more relevant in searches.
